What we make
ORASCI is a dress label in Orpington. We do not spread across the wardrobe: we work on dresses and only dresses, in a pearl grey and slate blue palette that lets every piece sit beside the next. Five families cover the year — everyday column dresses, shirt dresses, bias slip maxis, pleated midis and evening gowns — and each one is developed as a series, cut in a narrow run of colours, and stocked here in our own store. Everything you see on the site is a dress we already hold on the shelf.
How we work
A series begins with a single shape. We drape it, wear it around the room for a day, and keep adjusting the shoulder, the waist placement and the hem until it stops asking for attention. Then we choose the cloth for what the shape needs: crisp poplin for a shirt dress, fine viscose satin for a bias slip, polyester crepe where a pleat has to stay pressed, lined georgette for a gown. Finished dresses are pressed, checked seam by seam, measured flat, labelled with their full fibre content and care route, and shelved by size in Orpington. When your order comes in we pick it, check it again, fold it with tissue and send it. Nothing is dispatched that we have not looked at twice.
